Zug, Switzerland, 24th November 2022 - VARO Energy Group (“VARO“) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christian Cuenot to the newly created position of Vice President Biogas (Bio-methane & Bio-LNG), effective 1st December 2022.
Earlier this year, VARO launched its ONE VARO Transformation strategy to accelerate the transition to a world of reliable, accessible and sustainable energy. This strategy is based on a twin-engine approach: Engine 1 focused on conventional energies and Engine 2, consisting of five growth pillars, targeting the most attractive growth markets in Europe.
Biogas is one of the five strategic growth pillars VARO wants to offer its customers to help them decarbonize and access cleaner energies to reach Net Zero.
VARO’s strategy to become a leading producer of Bio-methane and Bio-LNG consists in making selective acquisitions while building industrial-scale greenfield projects with an ambitious objective to produce the equivalent of 1TWh/y by 2026.

Christian is currently Head of Business Development Bio-methane in Europe at Shell and brings more than 20 years of international project management, sales, and production management experience in the manufacturing and energy industries. His background is in mechanical engineering. He also holds an MBA from IMD.
As of 1st December 2022, Christian will oversee the development and scale-up of VARO's Bio-methane and Bio-LNG business, whilst leveraging his knowledge in feedstock sourcing, asset operations, exposure management and customer solutions.
