We are pleased to announce the publication of our 2024 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, which highlights the tangible progress made over the past year in supporting our customers, scaling low-carbon solutions, and advancing the energy transition.

Sustainability remains central to our business strategy. In 2024, we continued to take a pragmatic and integrated approach, combining energy security with targeted, scalable solutions that reduce emissions and create long-term value.

Highlights from the past year include:

• 2.9 million tonnes of CO₂e emissions avoided by our customers through the use of VARO-distributed biofuels and biogas — a 14% increase compared with 2023.
• Launch of VARO Renewable Diesel® (HVO100), offering customers a high-quality, 100% renewable fuel.
• Progress in decarbonising the marine sector, including a renewed clean fuels agreement with the Port of Rotterdam, a successful trial of 100% renewable marine fuel with AIDAprima, and a new partnership with Orim Energy.
• Expansion of our e-mobility offering through the acquisition and integration of elexon, now operating across 16 countries.
• Progress on sustainable production, including preparation to double biogas capacity at VARO Biogas Coevorden to 600 GWh/year.
• Recognition from EcoVadis, placing VARO in the top 6% of companies globally for ESG performance.

In early 2025, we announced the acquisition of Preem subject to regulatory approvals. This is a transformative step that will create a new leading force in energy. The combined company will meet around 10% of Europe’s mobility needs and will be the second-largest renewable fuel producer in Europe and one of the top 5 globally.
